PALM OIL-FREE PRODUCTS
Sadly, many cosmetic products contain palm oil. Unfortunately, natural cosmetic products and a few BIOKOSMA products are no exception. We do not use pure palm oil and palm kernel oil. However, we cannot yet dispense with derivatives based on palm kernel oil in every case. Raw materials based on palm oil (palm oil derivatives) are used in the manufacture of cosmetics as surfactants or emulsifiers, which cannot simply be removed from cosmetics formulas. Alternatives of equal value are still rare.
In addition, the possible alternatives have much lower yields and much more land is needed to grow other oilseeds such as coconut, soya, rapeseed and sunflower oil than is required for oil palms. For example, 10 hectares of soya beams would have to be planted to obtain the same yield as from one hectare of oil palms. The rigorous exclusion of palm oil and the use of other oils would therefore also cause ecological problems of a disproportionately higher level. The only solution is to purchase the palm oil only from sustainable sources. We require our suppliers to give us palm oil derivatives only from sustainable procurement sources (RSPO).
Whenever possible, particularly when we develop new products, we try not to use palm oil derivatives and use other vegetable oils instead where this makes ecological sense. The Sensitive Visage soothing night cream, the Organic Edelweiss – Organic Chokeberry body cream and the new Organic Wild Rose – Organic Elderflower pampering body cream were developed without the use of palm oil. Palm-free emulsifiers were used for these products, such as glyceryl stearate SE and brassica alcohol, both of which are produced from rapeseed oil. Other BIOKOSMA products have always been palm-free.
Bath Oil Lavender
The BIOKOSMA Lavender Oil Bath has a calming, balancing effect and eases tense muscles. It is especially good as a relaxation bath before going to sleep. Contains 100% pure lavender oils from Provence in a sunflower oil base. Especially soothing for demanding and dry skin.
Dosage
20 ml / ½ - 1 oz. for a full bath
Application
fill bathtub with warm water (35 - 38°C / 97 - 100°F). Then add bath preparation and stir well to activate plant essences to their maximum effectiveness. Enjoy your bath for 10 to 15 minutes.
Also suitable for whirlpool bath.
